On April 30, System Health Solutions proudly honored Natalie Abner, a dedicated hospital-at-home nurse, with the prestigious DAISY Award. Her surprise celebration was made even more special with the presence of her parents and husband, who joined SHS leaders and team members to honor her achievements.

Abner is known for her willingness to go above and beyond for her patients, often working long hours during the day and being on-call overnight. Her colleagues and patients alike recognize her as a true patient advocate, always ready to provide care and support, no matter the time. “It's amazing to see what you'll do for our patients. You stay as needed to ensure patients are taken care of. You are always a call away, even in the night. You truly live our values,” said the director of Home Health.

The Manager of Virtual Care shared heartwarming stories of Abner’s kindness and support for her colleagues. She recalled a recent example of Abner bringing in treats to cheer up a coworker who was having a stressful day, as well as another instance where Abner went out in the field to help a coworker, providing education and support while troubleshooting a patient’s needs. These examples highlight Abner’s dedication not only to her patients but also to her team.

The DAISY Award, established by the family of Patrick Barnes, honors nurses who provide extraordinary care and compassion. Abner’s recognition is a testament to her exceptional dedication and the profound impact she has on her patients and colleagues, noted the chief human resources officer.

The senior vice president of Clinical Operations presented Abner with her DAISY certificate, pin, and The Healer’s Touch sculpture, symbolizing the bond between nurses and their patients.
