For our mum, being diagnosed with cancer was heartbreaking, but Jo has made this overwhelming situation feel bearable, giving us all hope and reassurance.
I am nominating Joanne Walker for this award from a professional and deeply personal perspective. Recently, my family was faced with the most terrifying news: our mum was diagnosed with lung cancer. The past few weeks have been incredibly difficult, and none of us were prepared for the emotional and physical challenges that came with such a diagnosis.
Jo has been a beacon of support from the very start of this journey. She was allocated to our mum just a few weeks ago, and in that short time, she has proven remarkable. Jo has an extraordinary ability to make even the most devastating news feel manageable. Her approach to patient care, especially in emotionally charged situations, is remarkable. For our mum, being diagnosed with cancer was heartbreaking, but Jo has made this overwhelming situation feel bearable, giving us all hope and reassurance.
Jo’s compassion, professionalism, and kindness have touched our entire family. While we know there is a long and uncertain road ahead, full of tears and worries, we feel confident and comforted knowing Jo will be there as a steadfast rock for Mum. She exemplifies everything good about healthcare and embodies The Leeds Way Values in every aspect of her care.
From a professional standpoint, my husband and I hold senior positions within the Trust, and we are continually blown away by Jo's dedication and excellence. She treats every patient and family member with the utmost respect and empathy. Her unwavering commitment to the highest standard of care sets her apart.
Jo truly deserves this recognition, and we are immensely grateful for her presence during this difficult time.
