You could feel that everything he does for his patient is coming from the heart.
In my few days at the hospital, I could feel and sense Dustin's genuine kindness, love, and care, with constant support for me as a patient. He listened attentively and took his time to understand what my issues were. At times, I felt so frustrated because I was in an isolated room, alone, with all the procedures going slowly and delayed; he would respectfully answer my questions and communicate with truth and honesty – no sugar-coating, but very informative, showcasing his knowledge and experience. He made me feel safe, seen, and understood, not only with his words but with his actions. You could feel that everything he does for his patient is coming from the heart.

Sometimes, I didn't even need to ask; he just did it. For instance, a monitor cable connected to my IV had to be plugged into the wall. Other nurses never thought of moving it until he came and adjusted its position so I could comfortably go to the restroom without any hassle. He made sure the phone was working and charged it. Other times, he noticed that I had opened the window to see the view outside the room, and he told me he would leave the door open for a while so I could hear people and feel there was activity and life outside my room. He then took me for a short walk outside the room so that I could do it myself next time if I wanted to.

Everything was planned and well thought out. He paid attention, remembered everything I said, and acted according to my requests or needs. He would cheer me up when I was feeling down and ensured I was mentally ready and cared for after the procedure. He coordinated well with other nurses who would care for me. It meant a lot to me.

Every patient will be so lucky to have a nurse like Dustin because he will give his all and go above and beyond to care for you. The hospital becomes valuable because the patients feel they get the attention and care they deserve from their nurse.

To put it into short sentences, what I experienced is like going from the darkness to the light. My physical and mental health was on the edge of breaking when I went to the hospital, with the anxiety and sadness that I have. I came out feeling that I matter and am not just another patient with sickness needing medication because my nurse treats me like a human. That touches my heart. I'm forever grateful. Thank you.
