Michelle was next to her, helping her get through the rough spots, encouraging her with confidence, and complimenting her after each hurdle she jumped! Michelle is so compassionate, kind, and caring!
My daughter was admitted in preparation for delivering her first child the next day. She was made to feel comfortable and was very pleased with the nurses and other staff. The doctor was an AMAZING team captain! She is as stupendous physician and obviously dedicated to her patients! She goes out of her way to ensure they are assured that everything is going to be ok!! My daughter asked me to be there for her while she was in labor. My focus was to help bring her comfort and reassurance that everything was going to be ok and maybe coach her through a few rough spots! I later discovered my mother's instinct simply wanted to take her pain away. I felt helpless. Game Day had finally arrived. My daughter and her husband were excited at the same time nervous and scared. The hospital had an unusual amount of admittances that day, possibly 3 times the average.
The nurses were hustling, moving quickly everywhere they went. Michelle Kimminau was definitely “MVP” (most valuable player) for the day! My daughter had a million questions simply for the sake of settling her mind and hopes to know what to expect next, then too, what options might there be! Michelle Kimminau made L feel like she was the only patient there. She spent time with her, hearing all of her questions and following through promptly with every decision they made together! They made a great “Tag Team”! Michelle quickly gained my daughter’s trust.
She was in labor for several hours, and as each hour passed, her demeanor became more pronounced of a “Woman in Labor”. It was then that Michelle stepped up her game even more, keeping pace with my daughter. She spoke with her experience, giving that knowledge to her so they could continue making decisions together. Michelle kept my daughter focused! Michelle was next to her, helping her get through the rough spots, encouraging her with confidence, and complimenting her after each hurdle she jumped! Michelle is so compassionate, kind, and caring! I learned Michelle’s shift was about over for the day, so I stepped out of the room to thank her for being the person she was. I was simply being honest when I told her she was the most amazing nurse I’ve ever seen.
I thanked her for taking my daughter by the hand and guiding her through the scariest thing she had ever been through. I thanked her for taking the time to connect with her rather than serving her opinion and protocol. Michelle is the most selfless person I have ever witnessed! Time was drawing near for L to deliver the baby, so the family huddled in the waiting room. Minutes seemed like hours! Finally, my son-in-law came to the waiting room to share, “The baby was a GIRL!” Waiting to see them seemed like a lifetime, but mommy and baby were both doing fine! In the initial moments I spent with my daughter and granddaughter, I learned that Michelle chose to stay with my daughter until the baby was delivered, regardless of shift change! Again, Michelle is a dedicated, professional, compassionate, caring, selfless person and vests herself, her knowledge, and her heart into her patients.
