Everything related to my spine surgery was stellar, from the pre-op nurse to the recovery unit post-op. I am almost totally deaf, but every nurse throughout the day was respectful and accommodating of my extra needs. I wish I could nominate every nurse I encountered today. Since I cannot, I am nominating RN Mei on the Med/Surg Floor.

She made it easy to communicate, making us understand each other, which was important for controlling my pain and blood pressure. While she was being so kind, I accidentally spilled my ice water and apple juice. I was mortified to have made such a mess while Mei was trying to process me into her records as a patient. She comforted me as I felt bad about creating a big, wet, sticky mess. That’s being caring and compassionate for any medical staffer. So, I am grateful for Mei’s professionalism and thoughtful bedside manner.
