I am nominating this nurse on behalf of a patient and their family who would surely fill out this form and write multiple letters to see this nurse be nominated for his kind spirit, professionalism, and unwavering compassion for patients. I was caring for a patient whose family recognized my coworker. He had cared for the patient's mother while he worked at another hospital in another unit. The patient and family stated that during this scary time in which she underwent cardiac surgery, this nurse bonded with the patient's mom over her love for mariachi. While she was recovering, he would play this for her. She was visiting in the hospital waiting area where he once again played her mariachi, which lifted her spirit tremendously, while being so nervous for her son’s surgery. The family told me this was a sign for them and helped them through this time greatly, knowing she had received such good care and compassion, and it would be paralleled with her son. I was able to bear witness to this nurse being a beacon of hope and light for a family going through a difficult time. I am so proud to work with him and see his impact on patients.
