Jenny worked with us when we were frozen with fear, and helped the patient gain back her time on the waiting list, in order to have a new chance at life.
We are writing regarding RN Chenying (Jenny) Zhao. Jenny moved mountains with (national organization) regarding (patient) when their information was incorrectly entered by the previous hospital. We were working with other possible hospitals and have had a significant amount of medical care since getting sick in 2018, so we feel we can really tell when someone stands out. RN Jenny helped us through the (process with national organization) of reinstatement. She went beyond the help we received from the other hospital we were working with by making sure we understood terms, vetting our outreach letters before we sent them, and then not simply sitting back when we let her know the time had been reinstated. Instead, Jenny reached out to (organization) to confirm and identified an issue with our record. She tracked down the appropriate paperwork and held our hands every step of the way. Jenny worked with us to complete the paperwork and get it to (organization) on (date) and by (three days later), (patient) had her very first call offering a (transplant procedure). All of the pieces came together so fantastically in the (national organization) system through her work. We know that the patient and our family would not have had the same chance at life without her work, which resulted in the patient being at the top of the list with her time back and a transplant coming available at the same time. Jenny worked with us when we were frozen with fear, and helped the patient gain back her time on the waiting list, in order to have a new chance at life. Throughout it all, Jenny was diligent, straightforward, caring, and smart. She never gave up, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our story to highlight the work she does at UChicago Medicine every single day.

Note: This is Jenny's 2nd DAISY Award!
