Stacy was very pleasant but very concerned about what was going on. I didn't have to wait long to hear from her. Stacy called back later in the day with an opening the next day. I couldn't believe it.
Stacy is a nurse who has always been there for us (my wife and I) whenever we needed to speak to a nurse or doctor. Stacy was always there for us, at the other end of the phone and the patient portal. When it seemed like we were at our wits' end and didn't know what to do, Stacy helped us out. I was recommended to see a specific doctor because my current doctor could not help me any longer. I called the hospital, and Stacy was the nurse whom I spoke to. I explained all that was happening. Stacy said she would try her best to get me in to see the doctor. Stacy was very pleasant but very concerned about what was going on. I didn't have to wait long to hear from her. The doctor at the visit, prescribed a medication that would help, but recommended we see a specialist in my condition. When I called to make the appointment, Stacy returned the call. She said she would try their best to get me in to see the specialist, and once again, Stacy called back later in the day with an opening in a week. From that point forward, I had more and more instances or flare-ups. With my condition, the patient has to try different regimens until the best one can be found. Needless to say, Stacy continued to be our resource on the other end of the phone helping us when a) I had unexpected side effects from a new medication, b) I didn't know the best wound healing agent to use c) I needed direction as to what I should do with flare-ups, d) I needed the sterile pads to help with wound care).
The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Stacy found a doctor who helped us with a flare-up. Stacy saved our Thanksgiving celebration. Stacy is responsible for the good quality of life my wife and I have, despite my condition. Knowing you are not alone and that someone is there to help you makes a huge difference in dealing with medical issues. We never feel alone when a flare-up occurs, because if something is not right or different, Stacy is at the other end of the phone or the patient portal, directing us. Stacy is our direct line to the doctors who help us. Stacy is a remarkable nurse who is helping patients on a day to day, year to year basis. Stacy's patients aren't discharged after a hospital stay, and they are never to be seen again. Stacy sees and communicates with them continuously, and each time, Stacy does their best to give them the help they need in a timely fashion. My wife and I can't think of any nurse who deserves the DAISY Award more than Stacy.
