This nurse was incredibly attentive to Mom’s anxiety about pain and discomfort, and she truly listened to concerns.
This nurse welcomed my mother with open arms after colon surgery. She was the day shift nurse, and her care and personality were exceptional. Not only did she manage our crazy family and 100 questions, but she also connected with Mom and made her feel instantly comfortable.
This nurse engaged in conversation about her dog and let Mom talk on and on about her “precious” poodle (quotes used because precious is definitely an opinion for Mom’s queen pup). This nurse shared with Mom about going to visit her own mother in another state and how the weather was. This nurse was incredibly attentive to Mom’s anxiety about pain and discomfort, and she truly listened to concerns.
This nurse was able to get Mom up and walking before she got off work, and she gave Mom the choice about what time she would like to give it a try. Mom then spent time talking about her daughter completing a marathon, then this nurse made their laps “Mom’s marathon” and gave her the option of how many to do. Mom had so much fun doing 4 laps and chatting the whole way. This nurse also made sure that mom had good, safe movement – encouraged her - and didn’t let her overdo it.
Every nurse, PCA, and therapist was wonderful during the stay. This nurse just had a little something special to make us all feel at home and like we were being listened to and cared for. We appreciate her so much. Just so this nurse knows, Mom is home and recovering beautifully with her “precious” poodle because her mindset was focused on the positive and encouraged by this nurse from the get-go.
