Jessica stayed by our side and provided any and all support she could.
My dad (70 yrs old) was admitted to CVU after an emergency surgery for a perforation in his stomach. My dad also has stage 4 glioblastoma so this was a very scary and stressful situation. Jessica gave round-the-clock service to not only my dad but to my mom and me. When my dad’s organs started to fail, Jessica went above and beyond, making sure he maintained a stable blood pressure on top of everything else. There was one shift in which she was in the room almost the entire time. I can’t begin to describe how awful a situation we were in, but she was there through it all to help. I, myself, am a very anxious person, and she took the time to explain what numbers on his monitors meant, the medication he’s on, and how they’re helping, as well as answering questions such as if he could hear us. My dad was sedated for multiple days, and it was hard to see him just asleep. I was so worried he didn’t know we were with him and that he couldn’t hear how much I love him but she assured me that he could hear. Jessica was also with us when we received the news that he was not going to get better. My mom and I were a wreck, but Jessica stayed by our side and provided any and all support she could. Jessica truly went above and beyond; she was there for my dad and my family, and for that, I am forever grateful. She was an amazing nurse and was so empathetic to the situation at hand. She really did everything to help my dad and to make him comfortable. She would talk to my dad as she worked on him even while he was asleep. She treated us all with perfect kindness in a time when we needed it the most
