Her friendly, gentle manner was instrumental in keeping my anxiety down, and she was so respectful of my needs.
I had knee replacement surgery at OHOW. Although it has been several months since, I keep thinking about the excellent care I received, most notably from Nurse Maggie Soo. Her friendly, gentle manner was instrumental in keeping my anxiety down, and she was so respectful of my needs. One incident was most memorable:

I was very concerned and irritated by the surgical drain that was placed in my leg. I knew it would be removed at some point and remembered that it was a bit painful the last time I had knee surgery. Actually what happened this time is that I was sitting in a chair and did not realize that the drain (which was pinned to my hospital gown), had somehow gotten stuck in the cushion of the chair. When I stood up to go back to bed, the drain snapped off and rolled across the floor. The broken tube was still in my leg, and I was a bit panicked, but Maggie was super calm. She painlessly removed the tube from my leg, retrieved the drain, cleaned up the area (and me), and assisted me to the bed. The whole incident was handled quickly, and I was so impressed with her calm and efficient care.

Actually, all of the nursing care during my stay was fantastic, but this notable experience is something I will always remember.
