We had a patient with severe dementia who was only calm when his wife was present. This patient started to get agitated, and Kaitlyn was able to meet him where he was at and calm him down.
Kaitlyn is the most compassionate and caring nurse I have met thus far. She truly cares about her patients and goes above and beyond to help them not only heal but feel safe and understood. There are so many examples I can give that she has truly provided exceptional care to her patients, but I will stick to just two. There was a patient who was feeling isolated and alone, and despite the fact that she was running behind on her daily med pass, she took the time to stop and talk to the patient for over an hour so that her patient felt seen and cared for.

The second example I want to give is a few weeks ago we had a patient with severe dementia and was only calm when his wife was present. This patient started to get agitated, and Kaitlyn was able to meet him where he was at and calm him down. This is another time where she was busy, and it would've been easy for her to brush it off and move on with her day, but she didn't. She waited and talked with him until he was able to safely stay in his room on his own. Kaitlyn is often here until 8-9 o'clock at night finishing her documentation because she will always stop and take the extra time her patients need. Kaitlyn is also always willing to jump in and help with patient care, even when they are not technically her patients.

Kaitlyn always provides the most thorough and complete care to all her patients. She never leaves something half-finished or poorly done. Additionally, Kaitlyn is always willing to help in all aspects of her patients' clinical care. Even jobs she can delegate to an LNA if she is with the patient and knows the LNA is busy, she will just do the job herself, like Blood sugar checks and toileting. Kaitlyn is one of the most positive people on our floor. She often gets a difficult and heavy patient load, and she never lets it affect her attitude. Even when she is drowning, she does it with a smile on her face and never lets it affect her patients.

Kaitlyn is a huge patient advocate. She recently got a patient shout-out because she was the only one who listened to this patient and fought for her to get a different C-collar. As soon as the patient got the new C-collar, her pain was better controlled, and she was able to get up and ambulate more frequently. The patient was so grateful she took the time to ask me for our boss's email so she could email her about how Amazing Kaitlyn is and how much she appreciated her listening to her and getting her the tools she needed to get better and go home.
