The way in which Ian cared for our mother was what every person hopes for when worrying about a loved one.
My 87-year-old Mother was recently a patient at Saratoga Hospital. After emergency surgery, Mom spent a few days in the ICU. When she was transferred out of ICU to another floor, we were fearful of a change in her level of care. In a sea of nurses and aids responsible for her care during the course of her 14-day stay, one person stands out as being a bright light.
Ian Fisk is an exceptional person. The way in which Ian cared for our mother was what every person hopes for when worrying about a loved one. Ian provided precise and quality medical care with each trip to her room. It was clear that he is a conscientious and focused medical professional.
Beyond attending to her medical needs is what truly stands out. Helping a person heal involves more than taking vitals and administering medications. My Mother is a person. She is intelligent and capable and was frightened and sick. With every interaction, Ian was warm, caring, and present; he looked at and engaged with anyone who spoke with him.
He listened to our concerns and addressed them clearly and with a level of calm that we all appreciated. His level of care is clearly who he is and not just what he does. Ian is a gift. He allowed a very frightened patient and their family to exhale and feel safe. We are incredibly grateful for Ian.
