Meagan made a significant impact, comforting the Veteran while extremely ill, as well as advocating for his needs. She shows extraordinary kindness and provides life-changing care to all our Veterans daily.
I am honored to nominate Meagan Huss for the DAISY Award in recognition of her outstanding dedication, compassion, and commitment to our Veterans. Working with Meagan on our HBPC Team, I have witnessed firsthand how she ALWAYS goes above and beyond to provide our Veterans with exceptional care. This most recent instance is an example of the significant impact she makes on our Veterans.
Meagan and I went to the home of one of our HBPC Patients, we immediately knew that something was wrong. Meagan went right into action, assessing this Veteran and figuring out the appropriate actions that needed to be taken to help. The Veteran was critically ill and needed immediate hospitalization. Meagan called 911 and the Veteran’s family to notify them of the situation. Meagan called the hospital and home health agency to give a thorough report and make sure that all necessary information was passed along. Meagan worked long after her shift that day, making sure that all of the Veteran's needs were being met, as well as important medical information passed along.

She shows extraordinary kindness and provides life-changing care to all our Veterans daily. Beyond clinical excellence, Meagan embodies the true spirit of being a nurse. Her warm demeanor, patience, and genuine concern for her Veterans create a healing and supportive environment. She takes the time to listen, ensure understanding, and provide comfort not only to our Veterans but to their families.
Meagan’s dedication to her Veterans does not go unnoticed. I have watched her countless times as she provided excellent care to every veteran. If Meagan had not gone to see this Veteran the day she did, the situation would have ended extremely differently. For these reasons and so many more, I wholeheartedly nominate Meagan for the DAISY Award. She truly makes a difference in the lives of her Veterans, their families, and her colleagues every day.
