Alice stood out as being very professional and thorough.
Alice was my nurse during the last day of my 11-day stay at Brigham and Women’s. She was also my nurse at another time during this long visit. My condition was somewhat unique in that it is believed that I had a reaction to a medication that I had been taking before coming to the hospital, which resulted in high liver enzymes.

Much of my 11 days were spent simply having 2 blood tests per day, medication administered, an MRI and biopsy, and I was free to leave the hospital on occasion to get away. Alice stood out as being very professional and thorough. My last day at the hospital was somewhat stressful, given the uncertainty that I may have had to stay even longer. During this time, she not only was very supportive and insightful in how she interacted with me, but also even helped to communicate with my medical staff to find an acceptable way that I could be released and still obtain the necessary blood test regimen that was needed.

When the decision was finally made that I could be released, she went through the exit protocol very thoroughly to ensure that I understood. In my opinion, Alice had all of the attributes of what makes a good nurse. It is reassuring to know that there are young people today that joined the nursing profession with such a strong foundation of caring, wisdom, and professionalism.
