The Pediatrics Team (including our Child Life Specialists) is a special group. Compassionate, selfless, and family-centered are just a few words that I would use to describe them. The way they go above and beyond not only for their patients but the families they serve is something to be commended. Whether it’s delivering a car seat to someone’s home, donating a Christmas tree to a patient’s family who otherwise would not have one, or treating each child with respect and at a developmentally appropriate age, they truly live day in and day out exemplifying our mission of remarkable healthcare. The teamwork that I witness occurring is the norm here. I don’t think they even realize how effortless they make it seem. It is rare to have a team function so well together, but this is who they are and what they do. While some days are harder than others, they make each child have an experience that is positive during a difficult time. Our nurses are respected by the providers and are looked to as experts for what is going on with their patients. Daily interdisciplinary rounds exemplify the collaboration and respect this team has for each other, with the goal to always provide evidence-based practice to their patients. 

While small, this team is mighty, and I feel blessed to be a part of it. They truly care about their patients, their families, and each other. Our community is lucky to have the best pediatric care team in the region!
