Thanks to Danyel, we were able to determine that we needed to refer this specific product order to the RBGC Annex instead of Medline, as we required a smaller quantity.
Danyel was assisting with another clinic's pool messages, and she noticed an issue with the prior authorizations. She spoke with the clinic's primary nurse and identified that the nurse had to call the insurance companies to perform each PA, which can be very time-consuming. Danyel did the research and discovered that the pharmacy benefits information and details posted on the back of the patient's insurance card did not match. By using the information from the patient's card, she was able to perform the prior authorization using Cover My Meds, a much more time-efficient process. A work order was placed with EPIC to see if we could have EPIC match the patient's insurance card. Danyel also identified a supply issue. When attempting to place an order for supplies in Premier, the order was repeatedly rejected. Danyel notified Purchasing, explaining the problem. Thanks to Danyel, we were able to determine that we needed to refer this specific product order to the RBGC Annex instead of Medline, as we required a smaller quantity. We also shared this in our huddle so that other clinics experiencing this issue could identify a proper outcome.
