She was able to get in touch with the right people at the right time, advocate for her patient, and have her total knee replacement rescheduled from February to her current hospital stay.
Georgiana Hurd was a recent graduate RN who was beginning her mentorship in the nurse residency program during her first six months as a nurse. She consistently goes above and beyond for her patients. Just last week, we had a patient admitted with knee pain who was scheduled to return in February for a total knee replacement. Georgiana had cared for this patient for several consecutive days and noticed a steady decline in her knee condition. She was able to get in touch with the right people at the right time, advocate for her patient, and have her total knee replacement rescheduled from February to her current hospital stay.

The patient had been in severe pain, and her mobility was declining more and more each day. It's hard to tell how long it would have taken the patient to recover from her total knee replacement if she had had to wait for the procedure. This is a prime example of exemplary care that deserves recognition. Not only did she impress the patient and staff, but she also impressed her physician colleagues and everyone else on this patient's team by orchestrating such a selfless act of care towards her patient.
