My mom took to him immediately, which was a bit of a shock, as she doesn’t trust easily. She said she trusted him, which made me feel comfortable leaving her side when visiting hours ended.
Trevor was nominated for the DAISY Award by the son of a patient. During his mother’s week-long stay at Abrazo Central, he expressed his gratitude for the exceptional care and professionalism he received. At the start of the care, the son said, "At our very first encounter while he cared for my mom, Trevor put me at ease, speaking directly and truthfully about what to expect during her stay. He was very clear about her medications and treatment plan.“
The patient’s son also highlighted the bond you formed with his mother, saying, “Trevor formed a bond with my 91-year-old deaf mother from Italy and was able to communicate with her despite the language barriers. My mom took to him immediately, which was a bit of a shock, as she doesn’t trust easily. She said she trusted him, which made me feel comfortable leaving her side when visiting hours ended.” Furthermore, your compassionate care was evident throughout the night, as the son recalled, "When I returned in the morning, my mom said Trevor was very kind and accommodating to her. When he came into the room, he always took the time to ask how I was and then filled me in on how her night went.
During her stay, Mom earned the nickname ‘Houdini’ because of her multiple attempts to get out of bed. Trevor patiently kept her safe, and I can’t express how much I appreciated his presence.“ The son expressed, “I felt very fortunate that Trevor was the one who cared for my mom and for me during this scary hospitalization.” Your care truly exemplifies what it means to provide exceptional, compassionate nursing. Thank you for going above and beyond, creating a safe and trusting environment for both the patient and her family.
Congratulations, Trevor! Your kindness and dedication are a true reflection of the spirit of the DAISY Award.
