With compassion and honesty, she made all the difference for the patient and her family during this difficult time.
Ending up on hospice and/or palliative care is often a difficult situation for patients and their loved ones. Recently, a patient was admitted for shortness of breath and ended up on a ventilator, with staff expecting a poor outcome. Which the patient defied initial expectations, she struggled to cope and began refusing medical care.
“But everything changed when she met Sabrina,” the nominator says. “Although the treatment was no longer curative, the patient could take medications and focus on palliative care to manage her shortness of breath. This shift in perspective transformed her discouragement into a sense of well-being.”
The team quickly saw a change in the patient’s attitude towards her family and her ability to set health goals for herself.
“Sabrina went above and beyond to meet the patient where she was at. With compassion and honesty, she made all the difference for the patient and her family during this difficult time.”
Thank you, Sabrina, for providing compassionate and dignified care for our patients.
