She stayed with me and managed all the initial phone calls, and she was the most caring, efficient, and capable person I have ever met.
My significant other of 29 years was in hospice care for a short time, and he deteriorated quickly. Early one morning, I awakened next to him in bed when he became agitated and tore off his ostomy bag. I had never changed it or dealt with it directly before, and now we had a huge, unsanitary mess, with him unable to help or even realize what was happening. I tried, but I couldn't clean and change him by myself; I had to call for help. Only minutes later, Johanna arrived. She came in out of the dark, quickly assessed the situation, and within minutes, we had him clean and changed. She must have realized we had very little time left because she left for the office, returned with all the supplies we needed, and then asked if she could stay for a bit. Only a few minutes later, my beloved was gone. She stayed with me and managed all the initial phone calls, and she was the most caring, efficient, and capable person I have ever met. I struggle to find enough adjectives to describe how I feel. I want her to know that when I picture her, all I see is her face encompassed by a halo and wings.
