1. She went out of her way to establish personal connections with my mom and me as her daughter. When she learned that my son was serving in Iraq, she shared ideas with me for sending him a care package, which I still needed to consider while at my mom’s bedside.

2. As the surgeon was discussing possible negative outcomes that could occur during my mom’s surgery, she went to fetch the doctor to come in as well, to help further explain things and provide comfort when needed.

3. When my mom was taken down to surgery, she walked us there, even though she didn’t have to. Upon our return to the room with my mom, she mentioned that she had been checking on her while off the floor and prayed for my mom, which meant the world to us!

4. She requested to keep my mom as her patient, which brought consistency to my mom's care and alleviated her concerns about having to start over with a new nurse.

5. When she returned to work after being off, she came to check on my mom, even though she didn’t have her as a patient that day. When my mom’s nurse left at 3, she requested to care for my mom again until 7, which brought a smile to my mom’s face and her family’s as well!
