She was kind, gracious, compassionate, and understanding, going above and beyond for us during some of the hardest days of our lives.
Marissa was the ICU nurse who took care of my mother-in-law for the three days she was there before she passed away from sepsis and multi-system organ failure following complications from a routine surgery. Marissa went out of her way not only to care for my mother-in-law but also for each of us who visited her. She took the time to get to know our extended family and listened to countless stories about my mother-in-law, truly caring for her as if she were a family member. Marissa carefully explained each difficult procedure, every change in her health status, and guided us through some very tough decisions. She was kind, gracious, compassionate, and understanding, going above and beyond for us during some of the hardest days of our lives. I am also a healthcare provider, and I have developed a new appreciation and gratitude for ICU nurses, thanks to the exceptional work I witnessed Marissa do during our brief stay. While our experience did not end with the outcome we had hoped for, we were truly impacted by the staff, and they made an impossible situation better with their genuine care and concern. Thank you, Marissa. We’re grateful that you answered the calling to be an ICU nurse. What you do matters, and it deeply mattered to us.
