Renee Catron is an exemplary nurse with over 15 years of service. Not only does she dedicate her time at Corewell Trenton on the medical surgical unit, but she is also committed to the sweet babies in the NICU at Detroit Medical Center. Her latest act of compassion is giving a young, disabled man a voice and hope to live a life full of happiness. When he arrived on the fourth floor, his voice was only a whisper, his affect was flat, and he was bedridden. Renee has dedicated her time to building a rapport with him, has taken the time to talk with him even when he was reluctant to give a response, and has gotten him out of bed every day into a wheelchair to regain his strength. She has taken him around the unit for a change of scenery and outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunlight. This young man is currently awaiting court guardianship, and Renee has treated him with the utmost respect and compassion as if he were a part of her family. She has made a significant impact on his care and attitude. He is smiling more, talking, and laughing with the staff, and he even voted in our pumpkin decorating contest. Renee has brought him a sense of comfort, a sense of belonging, and a sense of purpose. She has not only given him exceptional care but has also given him memories that are imprinted in his heart forever.
