As soon as Caitlin saw me crying, she immediately stopped to check on me and stayed with me until I calmed down while embracing me in her arms, telling me how strong I am after all I've been through.
I had the pleasure of having Caitlin as my nurse my last day in the hospital before being discharged from Labor and Delivery. I gave birth to my daughter at 25 weeks which resulted in a stillbirth. A few hours before discharge, Caitlin was my new nurse upon shift change. Although I only had Caitlin as my nurse for a few hours, she made an impact on me that I will cherish forever.
Caitlin's care, attitude, and sympathy were above and beyond excellent. I happen to work on the Mother Baby/Antepartum unit here at ECU Health hospital which is a partnering unit of L&D. After returning to work, I have crossed paths with Caitlin frequently and although I am no longer a patient of hers, she still manages to check up on me to see how I am doing after my loss. Caitlin and I crying, the pleasure of working with one another on the L&D unit on Friday. That crying, was rough for me because I would have been 35 weeks pregnant and working on the unit I was admitted to just 10 weeks after. Seeing patients excited and happy about bringing life into the world made me both happy and sad just because of my recent loss of my baby girl. All of these emotions led to me rushing to the L&D locker room to cry in silence, but conveniently enough, as I was walking into the locker room, Caitlin was walking out. As soon as Caitlin saw me crying, she immediately stopped to check on me and stayed with me until I calmed down while embracing me in her arms, telling me how strong I am after all I've been through. In that moment, Caitlin did not have to stop and check on me because I was no longer her patient, but she did anyways. She took time out of her day to make sure I was okay. I will cherish her and that moment forever. Caitlin is a blessing to any patient she connects with.
