My child had surgery and awoke very upset and scared after surgery. His nurse brought me back to PACU so I was able to help calm him, and never left his side. When he would intermittently awake, she would help protect his head from his thrashing and helped to comfort him. When he finally was more awake and less confused, he was still scared, but she comforted him like he was her own. She brought him whatever he needed to make him comfortable and made him very happy with some popsicles. When he was ready to go home, she made the discharge process quick while still thoroughly explaining his discharge instructions. Her passion for her job is evident, and anyone would be lucky to have her as their nurse. She not only comforted my mama heart, but more importantly, she helped my child feel safe and cared for.
