Deb is a role model for compassion and exemplary practice in ensuring all her team members have what is needed to provide seamless care to our patients. She is a problem solver coming up with new ideas like alternative care spaces in ambulatory and infusion to accommodate her peers so that we can have overflow spaces for our inpatients. She led the MOB move efforts that included cardiac rehab, radiation oncology, and radiology flawlessly. Deb is always calm, composed, poised, graceful, and collaborative in responding to any challenge. She is a sounding board for her peers and can navigate difficult physician relationships like no other. She encourages a collaborative approach with her leadership. MDRs 2.0 has been very successful with her partnership and collaboration. With the changes to MDRs, she championed that all her service lines participate and drove early adaptation of the new process, which impacts our patient's ability to be home and receive the right care. Deb creates an environment of trust and respect. During nurses' week last year, she took gifts to the MOB in her personal vehicle to round on her staff to ensure no one was forgotten. She encourages growth and development to leaders and even role models professionalism in our hospital and community. Deb is an avid community partner serving on the board for both the Food Bank of the Albemarle and the United Way. There is no place that Deb goes to in Elizabeth City where no one knows her and knows that she works at SAMC.
