I am honored to nominate Kelsey, RN, for the DAISY Award in recognition of her exceptional care and cultural understanding. Our mother, a Hmong immigrant from Laos, and the proud matriarch of nine children and thirty-three grandchildren, arrived at the Emergency Department at 3 AM with her health rapidly declining. Under Ms. Martin's care, we witnessed an extraordinary display of nursing excellence. Her cultural competence and deep understanding of our mother's unique needs were evident from the moment she began her care. Kelsey's commitment to nursing ethics and patient care was not only professional but deeply personal. She treated our mother with the utmost respect, ensuring she was comfortable and fully informed about each step of her care. What truly set Kelsey apart was her ability to transcend the role of a nurse and become like a daughter to our mother, someone our mother graciously adored. Her warmth, empathy, and attention to detail made a world of difference to our family during this challenging time. We are incredibly grateful for the care our mother received and feel truly blessed that Kelsey was there for us. Kelsey's dedication to her patients, coupled with her cultural sensitivity and ethical practice, makes her a deserving recipient of the DAISY Award.
