I am fortunate to both work with Janelle and have been taken care of by Janelle as a patient. Janelle has been my nurse in multiple surgeries that I have had. She has always been caring and kind each time she has taken care of me. My last surgery was delayed a bit by a busy day in the operating room. Being on the patient side of care, it is difficult not to know what is going on. Janelle kept me and my family informed on what was happening and assured me they were making sure everything was just right for my surgery case, which was going to be a long one. Janelle made sure she was with me during my case and kept my parents informed of the progress being made. She even messaged me that night to check on me. Janelle is not only a colleague who steps up when needed, helping with calls, staying late, and precepting new nurses, but she is a caring nurse as well. I am so appreciative of the work she does in our department to help me and all of her colleagues. Janelle is patient focused and does everything in her power to ensure that the patient has a voice in the operating room. She has been an advocate as well as an empathetic caregiver, she treats her patients with the respect and kindness we all would want to receive as a patient. I have seen Janelle in action in her role in the OR as a colleague as well as her patient and I can say that I am grateful for her being on our OR team.
