Meghan is an exceptional nurse and a dedicated friend whom I have had the privilege of working alongside for over 10 years. For the past five years, we have collaborated to improve the lives and outcomes of foster children in our community. Recently, we were referred a patient from out of state. As Meghan reviewed his chart, she discovered that he had latent TB that had not been adequately treated. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, she collaborated with our nurse practitioner to ensure he was seen by Infectious Disease at Cardinal Glennon as soon as possible to facilitate his safe placement in a foster home, support his medical needs, and protect those around him. Meghan went above and beyond, spending 12 hours contacting hospitals, doctors' offices, and health departments in Florida to obtain his previous treatment records and medical history. Thanks to her persistence and dedication, by the time his ID appointment took place the next morning, all of his relevant health information was uploaded into his chart and summarized in his problem list. He was able to start treatment the next day. The effort she put into this child's well-being should not go unnoticed. Meghan's determination, compassion, and willingness to go the extra mile embody the very essence of nursing excellence.
