I had gotten a total knee replacement and was struggling. I felt out of control of my body, could not think, and was very anxious. When we first met, she promised to use all her knowledge to help me. I was grateful but doubted my own abilities to follow directions or ever heal as I was in much pain. She and I became a team. She became the greatest catalyst for my knee rehab. We gained control of my pain. She related to me tough times, and we gained control of my anxiety. Because of her sage advice, we made it possible for me to sleep. She gave me such comfort, was not judgmental of things I told her, and made me feel safe. I was alone when I came into the hospital, but became a we to heal.
