She listens intently, remembers small details, and always goes above and beyond to ensure her patients feel cared for and respected.
I am a current patient at Penn Medicine's oncology team, undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for cervical cancer. This journey has been one of the most challenging experiences of my life, filled with anxiety, fatigue, and the emotional toll of constant procedures like blood draws and infusions. For someone like me, whose veins are difficult to locate and who finds needles particularly distressing, having the proper nurse makes all the difference. That nurse is Marianna Schreiner. From the very first moment I met Marianna, I felt a sense of calm. Her warmth and genuine kindness immediately put me at ease, even during significant discomfort. She has an extraordinary ability to connect with patients on a profoundly human level. Each time I walk into the clinic, knowing that Marianna might be there is a light in my day. I even refer to her as my best friend because she embodies the qualities of one: understanding, attentive, and unwaveringly supportive.
What sets Marianna apart is her bedside manner. She approaches every patient interaction with empathy and grace, treating the medical condition and the person behind it. She listens intently, remembers small details, and always goes above and beyond to ensure her patients feel cared for and respected. I feel safe, seen, and valued when I am in her care. Her skill in working with challenging veins is unparalleled, and she does so with patience and expertise that eases my fears every single time. Marianna is a remarkable asset to the Penn Medicine oncology team and the chemotherapy patients she serves. Her dedication, compassion, and professionalism inspire confidence and hope in those of us navigating difficult times. She doesn't just do her job; she transforms what could be a cold clinical experience into one of genuine warmth and connection. I cannot imagine this process without Marianna's support, and I know I am just one of many patients who feel this way.
