A member of the ER staff, Mike Stowers, volunteered to drive her home. This very kind action impressed and relieved me greatly and by itself is worthy of commendation.
I called 9-1-1 for a suspected heart attack. This occurred at about 2:30 pm. I was brought by ambulance to Memorial Hospital. My wife, who cannot drive and has dementia, accompanied me. In the ER, some tests were made to detect the presence of specific "heart enzymes," and a re-test was done 3 hours later (6 pm), showing an increase of the enzyme, indicating a cardiac event. It was then decided to admit me to hospital, which was done about an hour later.
Now the problem became, how to get my wife home. A member of the ER staff, Mike Stowers, volunteered to drive her home. This very kind action impressed and relieved me greatly and by itself is worthy of commendation. BUT Mike called me on the following day, Monday, and told me he was checking on my wife at home, which he did. I think this was especially kind and caring and reflects tremendous credit on Mike and Montrose Regional Health. I wish to have this letter appended to his record of work at MRH in recognition of his outstanding dedication to patient service and care, certainly beyond the ordinary in my grateful opinion.
