Matilda Cruz is a dedicated APRN who has served the community for over 20 years. She cares deeply for her clients and provides the best care to ensure her clients are educated and receive the resources necessary to succeed in life.

Nurse Matilde, aka Matty as I call her, I first met over a year ago plus, with checkups and blood work. I would go to the Porter Center to talk, and her caring and understanding was real. We talked about many things, and she is the reason I went to get my prostate looked at, and for just that reason, I'm now facing some serious issues. We talked about family medical issues, and she was like a sister looking out for me. I appreciated all the conversations and her advice on getting tested often, as I do now. She always asks how I'm feeling and informs me of the opportunities they have there. Today I get the way forward from the Urology Associates for the next step in getting well. I plan to use the Porter Center, and I tell others to do so, too.

Maty and I are the only APRNs in the clinic, and I frequently see patients who have seen Maty in the past. Not only do the patients routinely talk about their experiences with Maty and that she is the reason they come back to the clinic time and time again for routine visits, but she makes a direct impact on her patients. In this particular instance, a patient I had previously seen was seen in a follow-up by Maty. When I spoke with the patient later, she commented on how kind Maty was with her and that she took the time to talk with her about her feelings and concerns, which the patient was grateful for. She said that it’s providers like Maty that keep her coming back to the clinic because she knows how much we care about our patients and treat them with dignity, respect, and, most importantly, compassion.

Any concern I have Matilde is always just a call or email away. She answers every concern I have and always offers a solution. She is one of the best Nurses I’ve ever dealt with.
