Radney was the primary RN to a child who had fallen at school on the playground. The patient was tearful and terrified, and Radney instantly placed the child at ease simply by being her understanding self. Within minutes, the patient was more at ease, allowing Radney to help her move and meet her basic needs. The patient had broken bones in three of her extremities. Radney chose a doll that looked similar to the child and wrapped ace wrap on the same three extremities of the doll. The patient really appreciated the gift, and the mom could not believe it. This token was such a special touch in already personalized care for the patient. By the time the child was transported to CHOA in an ambulance, she was totally at ease with everything going on. Radney's compassion for both the patient and mother made a huge difference in their lives that day.
