He began methods to make my daughter breathe while calling in his NICU team to begin saving my daughter's life.
What was supposed to be the best day of my wife's and mine life was quickly turned around when our daughter was born, not breathing. My wife started to push, and I took a mental picture of all the people in the room. Standing in the back corner of the room was a man whose name I did not know but will remember for the rest of my life. Our daughter came out not breathing, and a fever. Right when the baby came out, the man in the corner quickly sprang into action, taking the baby from the Dr and flipping her onto my wife's stomach. He began methods to make my daughter breathe while calling in his NICU team to begin saving my daughter's life.
She spent a couple of days in the NICU and is now in my arms at home. He was the man who made my daughter's coming home possible. He kept me informed throughout the entire process. But also knew I wasn’t in the state of mind to even hear what he was saying. I wasn’t t able to comfort my wife, knowing my daughter needed to be saved and I wasn’t t capable of saving her. This nurse informed my wife what was going on while I stayed by my daughter’s side. He provided my wife with the information she needed, while letting her know my daughter would be ok. He did all this at the end of his 30-hour shift, and right when he got home, he called just to check on my daughter.
Five hours later, my wife and I are in the NICU admiring our beautiful daughter. This nurse pops through the curtains, smiles, and says that the beautiful girl is doing so well! The next day she was released from the NICU. Following the NICU, I’m struggling to burp my daughter (first-time dad), and he comes into our room to check on the baby. Then proceeds to burp her and teach me the trick. My family will always be truly grateful for this man. He and his team saved my daughter.
