Kylee’s empathy and dedication eased the anxiety both my sister and I felt during an incredibly difficult time.
I was taken to Dell Seton Hospital after suffering an accident that resulted in fractures to almost every bone in my face. I spent several days in the hospital after undergoing emergency craniofacial surgery. One of the most challenging aspects of my recovery was the overwhelming fear and anxiety that accompanied this traumatic experience. My nurse, Kylee Roberts, went above and beyond to ensure that I felt at ease and that my sister felt reassured. Kylee was my nurse immediately after surgery and was also my nurse the day I was discharged. Waking up from surgery was incredibly difficult and frightening. I was in intense pain, and Kylee was always prompt in administering my pain medication. Beyond her clinical duties, she took the time to answer my sister’s countless questions, calming her anxiety and providing us both with much-needed comfort. Kylee’s care extended to the little things that made a big difference. When I received flowers, she crafted a makeshift water vase to keep them fresh. I also had accidentally hit my head and began crying. Kylee immediately checked to ensure everything was okay, offering both medical care and emotional support. On the day of my discharge, I was relieved and grateful to see a familiar face in Kylee. She asked how I was feeling and, once again, showed genuine concern for my sister’s well-being as well. Knowing that we were from out of state, Kylee went out of her way to help us navigate the situation, advocating for me at every step. Kylee’s empathy and dedication eased the anxiety both my sister and I felt during an incredibly difficult time. I am forever grateful to have had a nurse like Kylee by my side.
