Clinical Skills: When Rebecca came onto a night shift, she was greeted with me experiencing a migraine. It was my first migraine ever and she quickly helped me. She took my vitals and made sure to assist me when I felt a tad dizzy. Rebecca was on top of things, and immediately was able to contact the doctor on call for a medication to help soothe the migraine. I felt like I was dying or having a stroke, but she was able to calm me down and help me. Compassionate Care: Rebecca showed no judgment whatsoever while helping me. I know I got a bit upset because I didn’t understand what was going on since I had never had a migraine. I was met with patience and kindness. I had a concern during my stay at PMC about not feeling safe due to another patient using some slurs and certain language and Rebecca listened openly. She told me what I could do to ensure my own safety in those situations. Rebecca went above any beyond while I was bed bound with my migraine by offering me relief using ice packs, essential oils, and medications. It was a terrifying time for me, but she made it much more bearable. Exemplary Service: Rebecca checked in on me several times while helping me with my migraine and offered many things to try and help my pain level. She brought me ice, a warm blanket, essential oils, medications, water etc. I have never felt so cared for during a stay in a clinical setting while experiencing severe pain. Continued Commitment: The world needs more RNs like Rebecca.
