I was in the hospital on one of the worst days of my life. I was giving birth to my baby, who had already passed away. It was the most horrific experience of my life. My nurse’s name was, very ironically, Baby. She was so compassionate and supportive of me during my labor, but the thing I will never ever forget is how she cared for my baby daughter, O. I know it was only her body and that O was already gone, but Baby took care of her body with dignity tenderness and handled her as if she was any other baby. She took photos of O that I will always treasure, as they will be the only memories I will have of my baby girl. She packed all the baby blankets and hats that O had worn and put them in a box for us to take home. Baby also took several footprints and handprints of O for us to take with us. I was devastated and still am that I lost my daughter, but I could not have asked for better care than I received from Baby. Thank you for taking care of me, my husband, and my baby with such kindness. I will never forget the compassion you showed us.
