She provided diligent care and spoke graciously to my dad, and in addition, took the time to comfort me throughout the night.
My father is currently recovering from a stroke, and spending the past couple of nights with him has been particularly rough, as I have lost several close family members and have become all too familiar with the ICU over the past few years. Marzena, however, was one of the most compassionate and caring nurses I have been around. She was his nurse the first night my father was transferred to the unit, and her kind and loving presence was very uplifting for us. She provided diligent care and spoke graciously to my dad, and in addition, took the time to comfort me throughout the night. I shared with her how I was contemplating my own future career in healthcare, and she shared with me the story of how she got into the field. She said that when she started about a decade ago as a patient care technician, the reward from helping other people in times like these superseded the feeling of any previous job she had ever worked. Marzena’s high capacity for empathy was such a blessing to my family and me that night, and it was reflected in the quality of care she provided. Thank you for truly being a healthcare hero; you are so appreciated.
