Nurse Cathy Williams gives me my chemo infusions, and some of the meds with it, such as dexamethasone/steroids, cause me to get panic attacks towards the end of every treatment. I have social anxiety, so it's really difficult for me to be around all the other patients and noise. Nurse Cathy noticed these panic attacks happening, and I just wanted to leave, but instead, she sat down and looked face to face with me while holding me and calming me down. Then, for my next infusions, she spoke with my oncologist to get permission for me to get my infusions in a private room where I can relax better, and it has helped me very much. Now, I sleep right through the infusions and wake at the end feeling energized and relaxed. This has made an incredible difference in getting through my infusions. She has shown me more compassion than any other nurse I've worked with since I began treatments with Nebraska Cancer Specialists over a year ago. All the staff and nurses at the Papillion Office for Nebraska Cancer Specialists have been compassionate and truly amazing. Nurse Cathy has gone above and beyond to treat me with the utmost care I could possibly receive. I've begun to think of her as almost like family, along with all of the staff at Nebraska Cancer Specialists.
