The kindness is ongoing with Jena. But what is so touching is despite her mask, which she is always wearing, you can see so much empathy in her eyes.
From the moment Jenna first walked into our home, she put me completely at ease. She is an extremely personable, knowledgeable, and caring nurse who always goes the extra mile. Without going into any personal medical details, any concern I had regarding my harsh chemotherapy effects and surgery, she would look at and offer suggestions. I consider Jenna part of my Care Team, which is dedicated to getting me healed and back out in the world full-time. She left saying during her last visit, “Next visit, I will get to see your new prosthesis." She acknowledges the hard times but has a way of helping you celebrate moving forward.
I am scheduled to start a new regime of immunotherapy treatment. My husband and I are both comforted to know she is going to be stopping in a few days after it occurs as a follow-up. I was very ill during my entire chemo treatment and wasn’t comfortable with any friends/family seeing me in person. It was a really dark time for me. But I was elated when Jenna gave her next scheduled date and felt that was a good time for her to check back in after treatment. She was also a health professional who reassured me by pointing out that the length of each treatment is several hours shorter than I previously experienced this year. She practices the highest safety standards at all times.
Before she leaves, she makes certain all your questions are answered, any concerns you may have at the time are addressed, and she checks all my incisions to ensure all is healing correctly. I will say that right before leaving during her last visit, she made me not feel ashamed and gave great suggestions. I am already so much better. She also went out to her car and got a small bottle of her personal medical supply to try. I am absolutely certain Jenna is an example of the face BayCare HomeCare is proud to have representing them.
