Becky really helped my husband in all aspects of his surgical experience. My husband had a total hip arthroplasty and was, to put it mildly, scared to death. J kept stating he was going to die, and he meant it. We talked this over with our CRNA and somehow Becky found out about it. Becky came to J's admitting room in SDS to do his interview and introduce herself which could have waited until they transferred him to the holding area in surgery. Becky did not wait for that. Becky came all the way down to SDS and just visited with J, explaining what was going to happen, and this really set his mind at ease. Becky stayed with him during the block and throughout the surgical procedure. What I also found amazing is how Becky took the time during a very busy surgical procedure to call me and tell me every area of the procedure J was in, such as the block placed, when surgery started and ended, and even when J went to the recovery room. These updates were unexpected and very comforting to me. Even though I am an RN, at these times, I am a family member with all the questions and fears that family goes through in the hospital. I thought, OK everything is good, Becky is taking care of him.
