Her consistent check-ins ensure that new staff have a reliable resource and a comfortable space to voice any concerns or needs as they integrate into our team.
Meghan has been a cornerstone of our nursing practice development at Schwarz Cancer Center, particularly during a time of tremendous growth and expansion. With the influx of new staff members, Meghan has played a vital role in ensuring that each person feels welcomed and supported. She is personal with each new team member, making it a point to greet them with their favorite beverage during their first week. This thoughtful gesture immediately puts them at ease and sets the tone for their experience at the center. Meghan is intentional about her initial meetings with new team members and follows up regularly to provide a space for them to discuss how they are adjusting and how they feel. Her consistent check-ins ensure that new staff have a reliable resource and a comfortable space to voice any concerns or needs as they integrate into our team. Her dedication is particularly evident in the thorough orientation schedules she tirelessly develops. These schedules have been crucial in helping new staff members navigate our fast-paced environment, providing them with a strong foundation from the start. The team relies heavily on Meghan for guidance, and her expertise in this area is invaluable.

One of Meghan’s most impactful contributions has been her leadership in developing mock drills, such as mock codes and chemotherapy spill drills. These drills have been essential in building our team’s confidence and competence, particularly in high-stress situations. Meghan’s efforts have ensured that our staff is well-prepared and capable of handling emergencies with composure and skill.

Meghan's unwavering commitment to supporting new hires and enhancing staff competencies has significantly contributed to our ability to provide exceptional care during this period of rapid growth at Schwarz Cancer Center. Her unmatched dedication and expertise make her a true DAISY Award recipient.
