I went into the labor & delivery unit and discovered I was in early labor; I ended up staying overnight, and the following morning, the OB on call came and started induction meds since I wasn't progressing in my dilation. I met Angel, and she helped me with anything that I needed during that time. My doctor came in and broke my water at around 7 am that morning, and Angel was there the whole time. I was kind of stuck at 4cm dilated for a while and started dilating more around 12:30 that afternoon. I got my epidural and started progressing a lot faster. Angel kept me calm that whole time because I was first worried that I wasn't progressing, and she reassured me. After I got my epidural, I was worried because I couldn't move my legs at all, so she helped change me into different positions to help with dilation. Every 15 minutes, she was in by me, changing my positions and helping me in any way she could. The baby turned, and his head ended up in my hip, so contractions turned very painful when I got about 8 cm dilated. She was there helping put pressure on my hip to help relieve the pain. Once I was between 9-10cm dilated, she called my doctor to ask if I could start pushing, and my doctor confirmed. They said I could start pushing, but apparently, they didn't have the end of the bed taken off, and stirrups had just gotten set up when the baby started crowning. Angel was literally on the phone with the doctor, and the baby's head started coming. She had the phone on her ear and ended up catching our little guy. There was then a trauma page that went out to get nurses in to help and my doctor came in also. Angel was awesome, and she helped with aftercare that whole time; baby was born at 3:03 pm, and she was there until 7 pm that night. We took a picture of her and our baby boy that we plan on giving her; she is the best nurse I've ever had!
