Katie has brought multiple cutting-edge points back to the team and educated me on how to better support, interact, and advocate for our patients and the RN team.
Katie is the most dedicated nurse I have ever worked with. She demonstrates impeccable teamwork and delivers top-notch patient care.

Katie demonstrated the same accountability she expects from her team. She strives to communicate effectively with patients and colleagues. Katie works with several interdisciplinary teams and serves on several committees with the goal of promoting safe patient care and a positive work environment

Katie works diligently to bring the most current evidence-based practice to the Primary Care RN team. In April, she attended an AAACN nursing conference with the goal of remaining up to date with the current nursing practice, delivering quality patient care, and creating a safe work environment for the PC RN team. Her conference discussed perseverance, current in-basket management techniques, safety, and telephone triage. Katie has brought multiple cutting-edge points back to the team and educated me on how to better support, interact, and advocate for our patients and the RN team.

Katie constantly advocates for her patients and team by representing the nursing team in interdisciplinary meetings and committee meetings. She is willing to provide support when the RN team is short-staffed and is always flexible when the need arises. She also works diligently to ensure that other departments are supported when needed.

She is professional and approachable, and she pays full attention to the issue at hand. She also shows and receives respect from her peers, patients, and providers.

Katie is one of our RN leads.  She has been in this role for about 2 years.  She was promoted into this role because of her outstanding nursing care, teamwork and respect amongst her peers.  As an RN lead, she has flourished and grown leaps and bounds.  She is constantly working on ways to improve patient care, reduce delays in care for patients, improve workflows, build a stronger RN team, and encourage our other RNs to grow, i.e., through the RN clinical ladder.  She works countless hours to improve others, including some weekends and days off.  I have to remind her that things can wait and to take time for herself.  But she is such a caring and giving person she puts others before herself, which is what helps make her such an amazing RN.

Katie has worked with the Clinical Nurse Educators to review policies and procedures to ensure we are delivering safe patient care, which she shares with our RNs. She co-leads our monthly RN meeting and reviews policy and procedures, and she incorporates part of the meeting into a patient safety story that the RN team can learn from and discuss.

As mentioned before, Katie strives to look for workflow/process improvement to ensure our patients are receiving the best care.  At TPC our RN team is now combined into one team supporting 7 different sites from Summit View in Puyallup to Northgate.  She was a huge help to me in bringing the RN team together and ensure that our level of care and outcomes were the same as before when the RNs just supported their location/department.

Katie has really found her voice as a lead; advocating for both the patients and her co-workers.  Just recently, she advocated and encouraged 2 of our nurses.

She was chosen as lead because of the respect her other co-workers have for her.  I am thankful for her being so highly respected because the other RNs feel comfortable coming to her because they know she listens and will advocate for them. She does exactly the same for patients.  I have received several compliments that patients have sent in about the outstanding care they received and how appreciative they were that she took the time to not only listen, but hear what they were saying.
