An elderly lady was admitted to the hospital with an unidentified organism. She was placed on antibiotics. At the time, the care team wasn't aware where the source of the organism was coming from.

Hayley (being a certified infection preventionist) started doing research, and talked to family who had a suspicion the source may be coming from water. A sample was acquired, and an organism was identified. The course of treatment was altered, and the patient began to improve. Investigative work on Hayley's part played a monumental role in the patient's treatment and recovery.
