My mom had a massive stroke after her release from St. Anthony North Health Campus. She then went to two other facilities for rehabilitation. Just 10 days later, my mom had a seizure and was transported back to St. Anthony North Health Campus. My mom is 86 years old and was completely self-sufficient and independent until she had the stroke.
After the stroke she was nonverbal. She couldn't swallow and was completely weak on the right side. Her entire world changed 180 degrees in a matter of a few hours. When my mom was re-admitted, Lindsey and Jacki were so great to help support her, encourage her and care for her. They treated her so gently in her fragile state and with such dignity. They never made her feel like she was too much trouble or a bother. Being nonverbal they understood her frustration of not being able to ask for what she needed or wanted. They were very kind and always patient. Nurses like Jacki and Lindsey give comfort to people who would rather be anywhere but, in the hospital, fighting health issues. If I was hospitalized, I would hope to have such wonderful nurses.
