When you have a nurse who goes above and beyond to cheer up patients, to comfort her patient, it means so much. What's even better is when you can see the dedication a nurse has for her patients. I had some good nurses during my week long stay here at RMH but the one I'll always remember is Melissa Jefferies.
If I had a question she answered it, if she didn't know she would go find the answer for me. She didn't just come in my room pass out meds and leave; she would ask if I was alright, did I need or want anything and would talk a few minutes especially if I was upset. She kept me calm, made me smile I really enjoyed having her as my nurse.
I told her I was ready to go home because I missed my babies; she asked how many babies I had, I told her I had 2 at home ages 7 and 4 and 2 in Heaven who would have been 8 in September. She told me she had an Angel Baby as well her daughter was born sleeping on my oldest son's birthday. So with sharing that we bonded over our Angel Babies. I did something for Melissa that I don't usually do and that is I wrote her a poem about her Angel Baby.
Melissa truly is an amazing, inspirational nurse and person. She is an incredible nurse who goes the extra mile to help her patients in any way she can. Melissa is a hardworking, compassionate nurse who truly cares a lot about her patients and the families of her patients. I had to have a PICC Line done and have been so nervous and scared but Melissa has helped me through it.
A big Thank You from the bottom of my heart Melissa for everything that you did and for going the extra mile. You truly are appreciated and deserve this award. You are truly amazing and awesome. Thank You!
