I had surgery and Sue Wensink was my night nurse. As we all know, the nights in a hospital can be long and sometimes scary when recuperating from a situation like this. She made those nights a lot brighter. The first time we met she told me she would be getting me up at 5:30 am to start my day. As a late riser, I was thinking, are you kidding me? I believe when she saw the look on my face, she knew how I felt about that. Her response was, "this isn't the Hilton" and I knew that I was in good hands. Sue made me laugh and we have all heard that laughter is the best medicine.
My first impression of Sue never changed from that moment on. Not only did she have a sense of humor, but the true heart that a nurse should have. When I called to get help to the bathroom, she was always there immediately and with a smile. I always felt she was there to help because she wanted to be, not just because it was her job. I had so many questions and she always explained everything so I knew exactly what was happening.
Sue not only supported me physically but also mentally, which aided in where I am today. She made me feel at ease by addressing all my questions, doubts, and fears in a professional yet loving and concerned way that made me realize I could eventually lead an active life once again. Thank you Sue.
